‘Summerlike temperatures’ this holiday long weekend

CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison has your Victoria Day long weekend forecast.

Waking up to sunshine Saturday to kick off your long weekend, but clouds will be moving in later this morning.

“Rain’s expected with the risk of thunderstorms and that chance will last through the early part of the day,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “This will clear out just in time for dinner so you can get your barbecue back out.”

Even though we’ll see some rain, temperatures will stay warmer than seasonal this weekend, with daytime highs reaching the mid 20s.

“As we head into Sunday … 21 [degrees], cloudy, with sunny breaks,” said Atchison. “Then as we head into holiday Monday, mix of sun and cloud, the high 29. The long weekend will feature summer like temperatures. A great way to kick off the first long weekend of the season.”

Saturday: Increasing cloudiness early in the morning. 70 per cent chance of showers late in the morning and in the afternoon with risk of a thunderstorm. Wind becoming southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 in the morning. High 26. Humidex 32. UV index 7 or high.

Saturday night: A few clouds. Wind south 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light in the evening. Low 12.

Sunday: Cloudy. High 21.

Monday (Victoria Day): A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of showers. Windy. High 30.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of showers. Windy. High 30.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 60 per cent chance of showers. High 22.

Thursday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 17.
