Local players, performers and landmarks are all featured in a new music video titled “Beautiful Game.”
The videos hoping to put local athletes and artists in the international spotlight.
Two videos were previewed at the BMO Centre indoor soccer facility Wednesday evening.
They both include an original song called ‘Beautiful Game.’
One production is a traditional music video and the other features a local under-12 girls’ team from London.
Team members and others from the local soccer community gathered to watch the productions, with the indoor soccer facility featured prominently.
The goal is to get the videos into the hands of FIFA, the governing body for international soccer, with the hope they’ll be used as part of festivities for the 2026 World Cup.
Canada, Mexico and the United States are all serving as hosts for the event, with games being played in all three countries.
After the preview, artist and video producer Daubian Oliveira told CTV news, “It’s a lot of emotions right now. I’m just so happy and my heart is filled with joy for all the content that we were able to create. And to have the kids, especially, showcased in that content. I think it will be such a great thing if it can make that bid through.”
A London-based artists collective called Simple Reflections for Artists, has helped spearhead the creation of the music and video.
Dario Novoa is founder of Simple Reflections and has been active in the London soccer community. He says the principal message is the importance of unity, “You know, over 36 years ago I came to London and soccer united us.” Novoa added, “Now the contributions are even bigger, through the music, through the culture, through having a lot of representation.”
The promoters of the video say they will continue to promote the music and videos at various events through the summer, including live performances, with the hope of catching the attention of Canadian soccer officials and FIFA.
