Snow squalls still battering the region on Thursday

Parts of the region are under a yellow warning for snow squalls on Thursday as lake effect squalls off Lake Huron continue.

The warning has come down for Goderich, Bluewater and southern Huron County, but remains in effect for Wingham, Blyth and northern Huron County, Listowel, Milverton, northern Perth County, Grey and Bruce counties.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the snow will be accompanied by northwesterly winds gusting 50 to 60 km/h. Because of that, blowing snow will further reduce visibility.

Conditions are expected to continue through the afternoon and improve this evening.

The weather authority also warns that travel may be hazardous and visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
