The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a two vehicle collision in Strathroy.
On Saturday at roughly 7:20 a.m., police were investigating an incident involving a suspected stolen vehicle.
While police were investigating, the suspect vehicle was involved in a two vehicle collision.
The driver of one of the vehicles was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The collision on Melbourne Road resulted in its closure from Jubilee Drive to Carrol Drive for several hours on Saturday.
The SIU investigates incidents across Ontario where a civilian is hurt or injured in an interaction with police. They are required to investigate when there is a serious injury, death, allegation of sexual assault or discharge of a firearm.
