Police respond to silent 911 call, discover woman with neck slash and facial injuries

Sarnia police have laid charges following a domestic violence incident on Bentley Court.

A charge of attempted murder has been laid in Sarnia after an overnight incident of intimate partner violence.

Around 9:25 p.m. on Monday, police said they got a 911 call where nobody was speaking, but the call taker could hear a woman screaming and sounds of what was described as a violent confrontation.

According to police, the cell phone was geo-located to the area of Bentley Court. Multiple officers were immediately sent to the area, going to multiple homes in an urgent effort to find the caller.

Police said at one home, a woman answered the door visibly upset, with blood-stained clothing, obvious injuries to her face, and a slash to her neck.

According to police, a man could be seen from the doorway, and officers could see fresh blood on him. He was immediately placed under arrest.

The victim was treated by EMS and transported to hospital for treatment. She received bruising and numerous stitches, but is reported to be in stable condition.

After investigating further, police said the accused and the victim are involved in a domestic relationship, and just prior to police arrival, police said the woman had been choked multiple times, threatened, and struck with various items.

The Sarnia police Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the investigation and the scene was held so a warrant could be used to do forensic examination.

A 56-year-old male has been held for bail and is facing multiple charges.
