More than 1,000 people attend London police chief’s Gala

The inaugural London Police Service Chief’s Gala Appreciation Dinner & Awards Night was held at RBC Place on Wednesday night.

The inaugural London Police Service Chief’s Gala Appreciation Dinner & Awards Night was held at RBC Place on Wednesday night.

More than 1,000 people came out in support including police officials from across the region, local politicians and Premier Doug Ford.

The event was emceed by CTV London’s Reta Ismail.

While many gave honors to LPS Chief Thai Truong for the improvements made in his 19 months served, the Chief said the night was not about him. Truong said “this night is the night of our members, the award winners, the recognition that our members have deserved for a very long time.”

The event was also in support of two charities with proceeds going towards Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
