OPP warning of multiple crashes and vehicles in the ditch

Published:

Winter finally arrives in the Forest City After a very mild start to winter, lots of snow and a deep freeze are coming our way. CTV’s Sean Irvine reports.

Whether you were driving on the road less travelled or a more heavily-traversed one, it was a slick start to the day.

Winter driving conditions have returned and tow-truck operator Jason Freer has been busy with crashes.

“I think a lot of people have forgotten how to drive, especially with the recent nice weather they’ve gotten used to the nice roads for a bit,” he said.

Middlesex OPP responded to a rollover around 8 a.m. No one was seriously hurt.

CAA has also recently released its annual list of winter driving tips.

Some suggestions include a reminder to leave space between you and the vehicle ahead, not forgetting your phone charger and being careful on secondary and side roads which are not often maintained first — which could lave you stranded, according to Freer.

“There has been times when the highways have been closed down and we can’t get to you. Remember that, and make sure you’re prepared,” he said.
