Local agencies have launched a new program supporting people calling 911 for mental health emergencies.

The crisis call diversion program was created by London police. The Canadian Mental Health Association, and Thames Valley Addiction Services.

Anyone using the service is connected to trained professionals.

Officials say last month, the program supported 94 interventions, and 37 calls required a police response.

There were also 92 referrals to community supports.
