The London Knights came out on top in a late-season battle between the two best teams in the OHL, beating the Rangers 2-1 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
With top spot in the league secured, several of London’s top players were held out of the lineup, including Easton Cowan, Denver Barkey, Kasper Halttunen, and Sam Dickinson.
Knights forward Sam O’Reilly broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period with his 28th goal of the season. Oliver Bonk also found the back of the net for London.
Goalie Auston Elliott stopped 27 of 28 shots he faced, earning his 32nd win of the season. Elliott has lost just once this season.
London’s final home game of the regular season is Friday against the Windsor Spitfires. They wrap up the campaign on Sunday with a trip to Erie, PA.
They’ll open the playoffs at Canada Life Place on March 28. Their opponents are still to be determined
