Hotel fire causes nearly $200K in damages

London fire crews responded to a monitored fire alarm at a south-end hotel Saturday.

Crews arrived at the Wellington Road hotel around 11 a.m. regarding a possible fire in a first-floor room.

Officials say the sprinkler system was activated when fire crews arrived, and firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the original room.

According to London Fire, seven other rooms, as well as the hallway, sustained smoke and water damage, and crews had to ventilate the first and second floors.

Damage is estimated at $190,000.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical in nature.
