High tech hits the Grand Theatre stage in production of ‘Heist’

CTV London’s Nick Paparella has the details on the Grand Theatre’s newest production, a crime caper called ‘Heist.’

The latest production of ‘Heist’ at the Grand Theatre in London dives into the world of diamonds, deals and deceit.

Director Haysam Kadri says the story is about five accomplices that come together for one last job.

“We are transplanting the genre of heist movies to the three-dimensional platform on stage”, says Kadri. “It’s about a group of thieves who come together and attempt to pull off the biggest heist but as with all heist movies not everything goes according to plan.”

The high-tech hybrid performance grabs elements from both film and theatre.

“The show has lasers, there are drones, there are huge projections, things you don’t normally see on stage,” Kadri added.

The whodunnit with plenty of twists and turns is written by Arun Lakra, who says, “It’s a twisty, mystery, thriller with lots of betrayal and plots twists and we throw in and it’s very much an Ocean’s Eleven for the stage.”

Heist is on now at Grand Theatre until Feb. 1.
