It’s the second annual Pi Day-Pie giveaway at the Blyth Festival. Last year saw hundreds of people stop in at the Blyth Memorial Hall to celebrate the day, catch up neighbours, learn about the Blyth Festival, and eat some free pie.

Gil Garratt is the Blyth Festival’s Artistic Director, he says the day is about more than just free sweet treats.

“This is a community building exercise. People love to come to this very building and spend time with each other, and see folks they haven’t seen, since before the winter fell upon us. To be able to get together and have this kind of camaraderie and eat some homemade pie, it’s just enriches our lives. And that’s what we’re here to do. Enrich the lives of our community,” said Garratt.
