A fast snowmelt and weekend rainfall have made the Saugeen River spill its banks.
That high water has forced the closure of several roads and bridges, across Bruce County. The hardest hit areas are in the Municipality of Brockton, and the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.
In Walkerton, the Durham Street bridge, the only way into Walkerton from the east, is closed, because high fast moving water from the Saugeen River has trapped debris against construction scaffolding, under the bridge — the bridge has been under construction since last year.
Another road, near Lobies Park in Walkerton, is also closed due to the river overflowing onto the roadway.
The Saugeen River Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch.
Officials say they expect the river to peak late on Monday afternoon.
