Work is scheduled for begin for improvements to downtown Woodstock.
Starting on March 24, Dundas Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Victoria Street to Museum Square.
Pedestrian access will be maintained for local businesses, which will remain open.
“This project has been a long time coming and we’re excited to finally be getting underway,” said Kerry Baird, Downtown Development Officer. “We know construction is never easy, but we are confident the improvements will create a more flexible, comfortable downtown for everyone.”
The project hopes to address accessibility concerns, while also updating the streetscape. The existing surface will be replaced with new asphalt, and will allow for rolled cubs, new lighting, and new street furniture.
The work is expected to span 13 weeks, with detours in effect. Local transit will be affected, users are encouraged to check Woodstock Transit’s website for the most up to date route information.
