Headquarters of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) will reopen next Monday.

The administration office has been closed since Oct. 6, 2024, after lightning struck near the building, causing extensive damage.

Not only were there internal electrical issues, but there were also windows blown out and concerns about the structural integrity of the building, which sits atop a hill in Formosa.

Engineering inspections have determined that the building is safe for staff to return to, which will happen on Jan.13, according to SVCA officials.

“We extend our thanks to the public for their patience and understanding during this unexpected closure. We are excited to welcome both staff and the public back to the Administration Office on Monday, January 13th, and look forward to continuing to serve our community in person,” said SVCA General Manager Erik Downing.
