Agnes Macphail would have turned 130 years old this weekend. Macphail was Canada’s first female Member of Parliament, winning the riding of Grey Southeast in 1921.
Macphail, who was born in Hopeville and laid to rest in Priceville, is being honoured for her accomplishments this weekend in Markdale.
A special ceremony is being planned at Annesley United Church in Markdale on Sunday afternoon.
There will be a celebration for Macphail, as well as for other local trailblazers.
The event will be livestreamed at Friends of the South Grey Museum - YouTube.
