Bruce Power is promoting it’s nearly all Canadian supply chain as part of program highlighting Ontario’s energy security.

Bruce Power says 95 per cent of the money it spends on operating the it’s eight unit nuclear fleet near Kincardine is spent on Canadian supplies, technology, and employees.

“Bruce Power is one of Canada’s largest private investors in critical infrastructure that provides clean, reliable, made-in-Canada electricity and life-saving medical isotopes. We can’t have economic security without energy security and our plan is to play a central role in the future of Canada’s electricity supply and to lead the world in medical isotope production,” said Bruce Power’s Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice-President James Scongack.

“At a time when the United States has taken aim at our economy, our government is laser-focused on ensuring Ontarians have access to a domestic supply of affordable, reliable and clean energy,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines.

“I’m so pleased to continue to work in partnership with Bruce Power to champion made-in-Ontario and made-in-Canada nuclear technology to power our economy. An unprecedented attack requires a united response that leverages more products made by, for, and in Canada,” continued Lecce.

Bruce Power is nearing the midpoint of a 13 year, $13 billion project to refurbish six of their eight reactors. They are also in the early stages of work to build another four to five reactors at their sprawling headquarters along the shores of Lake Huron.
