Police investigating attempted bank fraud in Guelph

Guelph Police want to identify a man who tried to open a bank account with fake ID.

They said it happened at a south-end branch on June 10.

“An employee reported a man was in the branch attempting to open an account, however staff believed the documents he was using to prove his identity were fake,” a media release said.

The man left before officers arrived at the bank.

On Friday, they released a photo of a person investigators would like to speak to.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 30s and a slim build.
