Pickup truck driver hits house in Guelph

The driver of a pickup truck has been charged after he hit a house in Guelph.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to a home on Stevenson Street North on Thursday around 2:30 p.m.

Investigators said the driver of a black Ram pickup lost control, swerved off the road and slammed into a house, causing significant damage.

The truck had to be pulled out of the house, but no one was hurt.

When an officer spoke to the driver, they said they could smell alcohol on his breath, and several empty containers of alcohol were seen inside the vehicle. The driver was taken to a police station where tests confirmed he was impaired.

A 54-year-old Guelph man has been charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
