Charges have been laid after Guelph Police say someone entered a model home, slept in the bed and left their wallet behind.

A local builder reported finding a window broken, and door ajar, at a home in the south end of the city.

Blood was also spotted on a broken window, with a trail of blood drops going inside, where officers discovered an empty beer can in the kitchen.

“In a bedroom, officers located a wallet on a nightstand,” police said in a media release. “While officers were still investigating, they learned the owner of the wallet was being investigated for damaging a vehicle downtown by kicking it. Officers dealing with the male confirmed he had a fresh injury on his hand.”

A 34-year-old Guelph man was charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000 and breaching a probation order.
