Four vehicles stolen, one found in flames in Guelph parking lot

Published:

Guelph Police are investigating after two vehicles were stolen and two more were recovered within a matter of days.

A city employee was at Eastview Community Park on Watson Parkway just before 6 a.m. on Monday when they saw a Kia SUV on fire in the parking lot.

A witness reported seeing two vehicles pull into the lot, and then one of them leaving shortly after the flames broke out.

Police said the SUV that was on fire had been stolen overnight from a driveway near Grange Road and Starwood Drive.

Then, at around 7:30 a.m., a resident reported a dark orange 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche had been stolen from another driveway near Fleming Road and Severn Drive. A male was captured on video near the driver’s door at 4:30 a.m., according to police, before the truck was driven away.

About an hour later, police were called to a business near Imperial Road North and Woodlawn Road West.

They said someone entered the gated yard sometime over the weekend and stole a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with a plow on the front.

Just after 10 a.m. that same morning, police responded to call about a suspicious vehicle at a Airpark Place business. Their investigation determined the 1998 Chevrolet Suburban had been stolen overnight from Hamilton.

It is not known if the incidents are connected.
