Dine and dash ends in arrest

A Guelph man has been charged after police said he left a restaurant without paying for a meal.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to an unnamed business near Elmira Road North and Speedvale Avenue West on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.

They were told a man had eaten there and then refused to pay for the food. When an employee tried to stop him from leaving, the employee was shoved several times before the suspect took off.

Police found the 34-year-old man nearby and charged him with assault and food fraud.
