Geovanny Villalba-Aleman was originally scheduled to be sentenced Monday but that hearing has now been pushed back to March.
Villalba-Aleman previously admitted in court to deliberately going into a gender studies class and stabbing a professor and two students in June 2023.
At the time, he was an international student from Ecuador and had recently graduated from the university.
He pleaded guilty to four assault-related charges.
Villalba-Aleman’s ideologies, at the time of the attack, became a focal point during sentencing submissions. The Crown stated that he didn’t have one specific ideology, but rather a collection of extremists right-wing views.
The judge has not yet determined if he’ll also be convicted on a terrorism charge.

The Crown has asked for a sentence of between 10 and 16 years, depending on Villalba-Aleman’s guilt on the terrorism charge and if it’s deemed a hate-motivated attack. They have also said they will seek a deportation order after his sentenced is served.
The defense, meanwhile, has asked for a sentence between five and eight years.
Villalba-Aleman’s sentencing date is now set for March 17.
