Police trying to identify two suspects in Fergus, Ont. distraction theft

The Ontario Provincial Police have released images of two people they are trying to identify as part of an investigation into a Fergus, Ont. distraction theft.

Officers were told a customer went to a grocery store on St. David Street North around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 25. The victim said they noticed two males following them and believed the suspect saw them enter their PIN during checkout.

The victim also said the suspect followed them home and even approached them in the driveway, claiming he had lost his dog and needed help finding it.

While the victim was distracted, a second person went into their vehicle and stole the victim’s debit and credit cards.

A short time later, the victim received multiple notifications about withdrawal attempts that had been declined, as well as one successful withdrawal of $400.

The first suspect was described as a brown male, between 5’10” and 6’10” with an average build.

The second suspect was a 5’9” brown male with a slim build.

They were last seen in a dark navy blue, four-door Chevy Malibu.
