A man is facing drug trafficking charges after police were told a man with a gun was spotted at a residential building in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police officers were called to the property, in the King Street East area, on Thursday at around 4:30 a.m. They were told a man with a firearm had been seen inside.

After arresting the man, they determined the weapon was actually a BB gun. No one was hurt during the incident.

Investigators then completed a search warrant at a home and found suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and alprazolam, a benzodiazepine commonly sold under the brand name Xanax.

A 26-year-old Kitchener man was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
