Students and staff at a school in Norfolk County may have been exposed to the measles virus.
In a news release on Tuesday, Grand Erie Public Health encouraged anyone who was at Houghton Public School in Langton between March 17 and March 20, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., to complete a measles exposure form.
The form is meant to help assess a person’s risk level.
Other potential exposure sites previously announced by the health unit include Norfolk General Hospital’s emergency department, Glen Meyer Old Colony School and Delhi Community Health Centre’s walk-in clinic.
Measles is highly contagious and can spread by people infected with the virus if they cough or sneeze.
Symptoms of measles can include a fever, runny nose, cough, red eyes and aches and pains. Doctors have warned the characteristic rash often associated with measles is not the first symptom of an infection.
According to Public Health Ontario, at least 111 cases of measles have been reported within Grand Erie Public Health’s borders.
