A popular amphibious tourist attraction is making its way back to Victoria just in time for warmer weather.

Hippo Tours has confirmed it’s in the process of bringing back its 40-passenger land-and-water-capable buses to the Capital Region by late spring or early summer.

The company moved its operations to the Caribbean after the 2014 tourism season, reasoning that it would be more profitable in a place where it tours can be offered year-round.

The tours have previously only been offered in Victoria between May and October.

It’s unclear what precipitated the company’s decision to move back.

It comes as Victoria’s tourism sector continues its red-hot pace.

Tourism officials said the city experienced a 7.8 per cent jump in visitors last summer thanks to the low dollar, a rise in global tourism and better marketing.
