A fishing boat has gone down in rough water at the entrance to Hecate Strait, west of Prince Rupert, but all aboard have been rescued.

A tweet from the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue station in Prince Rupert says its members worked with the Canadian Coast Guard to reach the fishing boat late yesterday morning, where it was listing heavily after taking on water.

In addition to the sinking boat, one of the four crew members was having a medical emergency but the search and rescue vessel at the scene was able to get him back to Prince Rupert for treatment.

The other three crew members stayed on the coast guard ship which remained with the fishing boat until it went under. Wind warnings are still in effect in that region and the west coast of Vancouver Island today, with gusts of at least 90 kilometres per hour forecast.
