Two Campbell River residents are unhurt but their home has been badly damaged after it was hit by a mudslide in Campbell River.

In all, four homes in the Vancouver Island city have been evacuated after heavy rain caused a slope to give way in a neighbourhood in north Campbell River.

Geotechnical experts are now assessing the slope and Campbell River Mayor Andy Adams says the evacuation order will remain in effect until further notice.

Roads in the neighbourhood are still open, but a notice posted on the city's website says signs and barricades alert drivers to localized flooding elsewhere in the city because of high levels of Nunns Creek and the Campbell River in the wake of the latest storm.
