National Parks in Alberta are bracing for a winter storm, with Parks Canada warning road closures could be put in place for avalanche work.
The storm is expected to hit Jasper and Banff over the weekend and bring as much as 45 centimetres of snow.
If it comes through in full force, Parks Canada may need to close sections of road between Athabasca Falls and Saskatchewan Crossing for avalanche control.
Parks Canada said the closures will take place between Saturday and Monday, and are needed to keep drivers on the Icefields Parkway safe.
Drivers can check 511 Alberta for the most up-to-date information on road conditions and traffic before leaving.
