A charity that provides accommodations for first responders, veterans, and members of the military says its name sign has been stolen. The letters that make up the Valour Place sign were taken from the brick wall in front of the building on 111 Avenue in Edmonton. “Someone may have taken a sign, but they took something that belongs to an entire community,” the charity’s president Connie Erker said in a news release. “Valour Place is a symbol of hope for families going through incredibly difficult times, and we would really like to see that symbol returned.” Valour Place opened in 2012 and has provided over 35,000 nights of no-cost accommodations to qualifying families who travel to Edmonton for medical treatment. “We hope whoever took the sign understands the value of the metal as scrap is hardly worth the theft and chooses to return it,” Erker said. The organization says the theft has been reported to police.
