Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Minister Dale Nally says this year’s list of baby names showcases Albertans’ “deep respect for their strong cultural roots.”
Some parents took inspiration from mother nature and animals with names like Bear, Fox, Jaguar, Sora, Wintersky and Cedar-Sage.
Others embraced their love for the country with names like Rowdy, Shooter and Stryder. The night sky also provided some inspiration for names like Celestial, Cassiopeia, Andromeda and Orion.
Some parents like to go the non-traditional route with more unique names. Some of those in 2024 included Avocado, Basil, Buffalo, Kylo-Ren, Chosen and Huck.
Unique baby names for girls in 2024 include: Adorable, Yankee, Whyte, Vegas, Tuba, Snow, Peachy and Miami.
