Hope Mission says it wants to expand its health care services for vulnerable Edmontonians.

So far this year, Hope Mission Health Services has helped more than 2,200 people in need of medical attention.

“Hope Mission has really become so much more than just a soup kitchen,” Tim Pasma, director of programs said in a news release on Thursday.

“In every new building we have set up, we have been including a full range of wrap-around supports to help people rebuild their lives,” Pasma said.

Its health services department provides a variety of services from emergency medical responses, foot and wound care to help with medication.

Those services are currently provided by registered nurses, paramedics, psychiatric nurses and foot care nurses.

Hope Mission is hoping to expand the expertise available in its health department this year with nurse practitioners, doctors and other health professionals.

It’s hoping trained medical professionals will consider volunteering their time and services.
