Following Thursday’s snowfall, temperatures dropped to the -15 to -20 range across central and northern Alberta this morning.
We’ll see similar temperatures Saturday morning and afternoon highs should be in the -10 C range for both today and Saturday in the Edmonton area.
But, we’re done with the heavy snow. There might be a few scattered pockets of light flurries, but no significant snow is expected in the coming days.
It’s a different story in the south where we’ll get some isolated blasts of heavier snow near Banff/Calgary today.
We’ll get a bit of clearing through the day and wind shouldn’t be overly strong, but 10-15 km/h wind speeds will produce wind chills in the -20s this morning and near -15 this afternoon.
Increasing cloud and light wind on tap for Saturday.
Sunday sees a slight increase in wind speed, but also a bump in temperatures with temperatures climbing to the -5 range.
That warming trend continues through early next week with highs close to zero Monday/Tueesday and then a handful of degrees above zero starting Wednesday and continuing through the following weekend.
The Spring Equinox is next Thursday (March 20) and it’s shaping up to a be a mild/warm start to the new season.
