Warm air pressed into the Edmonton region on Tuesday and boosted temperatures to a high of four degrees.
That warmth should push even further east today and we’ll get to a high near six degrees under sunny skies in the city this afternoon.
There’s some increasing cloudcover expected for Thursday as we welcome in spring (Spring Equinox is at just after 3 a.m. Thursday morning).
AND...temperatures will be a degree or two cooler across most of the province (compared to today).
For east-central AB...that means you’ll get three to five degrees above zero today and then back to a high right around zero Thu/Fri.
All-in-all...not a lot of really active weather over the next few days - just melty in the afternoon and freezing up again overnight.
It starts to get a little more interesting Fri/Sat.
An area of low pressure will develop in the foothills sometime Friday and then trek off to the southeast.
We’re not anticipating a TON of snow with this system, and the location of the precipitation is still uncertain.
But...I’ve added a risk of some showers or wet flurries to the Edmonton forecast for Friday night and a risk of light snow for Saturday morning.
At this point, it doesn’t look like anything TOO significant. But, there might be a couple centimetres of accumulation for some spots in central or north-central AB.
It’s more of a - “let’s watch to see how this develops”, rather than “here comes some snow.”
As for the temperature outlook - we’ll be in the five to eight degree range Fri/Sat/Sun and then in the seven to 10 degree range for Mon/Tue of next week.
So...the mild air isn’t going anywhere.
