The Edmonton Oilers will honour South Asian communities in the city with the hopes to break a five-game losing streak against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.

The special game night will include a DJ, dance performances and a national anthem rendition by Jasmine Singh to kick-off the night.

The celebration will showcase an honour guard from the South Asian community while playing video spotlights throughout the game to recognize community members' achievements.

A shoot-out will be held on the ice for kids in the AZ1 Hockey and South Asian Hockey organizations during the first intermission.

“South Asian Night is more than just a game. It’s a celebration of representation, community and the growing presence of South Asian athletes in hockey,” said Arjun Atwal, the director and founder of AZ1 Hockey.

“Seeing my culture reflected in the sport I love is powerful, and events like this create a sense of belonging for the next generation. AZ1 Hockey is proud to be part of this movement, breaking barriers and proving that hockey truly is for everyone,” he added.

The Edmonton Oilers South Asian Celebration game is the final cultural commemoration game of the season.

The Oilers previously hosted the Celebrating Black Excellence and the Lunar New Year games earlier this year.

Limited-edition merchandise will be available for purchase at the Oilers Team Store as well as online. A portion of the sales will go toward Free Play for Kids' Welcome to Play program.

Tickets for Tuesday’s game are available on the team’s website.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
