As part of ongoing budget challenges, the City of Edmonton has discontinued the Front Yards in Bloom and the Edmonton in Bloom Awards after 25 years.
The city says the program was discontinued because it is not considered a core service.
“These programs have been valuable to our community and we want to acknowledge the positive impact they have made to the lives of many Edmontonians,” officials said in a written statement.
“We know this news is disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize core city services.”
Officials say those looking for alternative volunteer opportunities can find them on the city’s website.
