Death of suspect closes northwest Edmonton homicide case

The Edmonton Police Service says their only suspect in a homicide in Edmonton last month has died.

Edmonton police are not laying charges in the case of a man’s murder in the Oxford neighbourhood last month because their sole suspect has died.

On Nov. 23 around 4:45 p.m., Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers had done a welfare check at a residence in the area of 157 Avenue and 130A Street when they found a man who had died in what they said was suspicious circumstances.

An autopsy on Nov. 27 revealed the 28-year-old man had died of blunt head injuries and neck compression in an apparent homicide.

EPS homicide investigators said on Wednesday their suspect has died since the beginning of the investigation last week. Detectives were not seeking any other suspects in the case.

Police say they have concluded the investigation.
