A control burn will be conducted today by Edson Forestry in an area west of Drayton Valley, Alta. The burn will be approximately one kilometre north of the hamlet of Cynthia off of Highway 753. Residents and those travelling through the area may notice smoke throughout the day. The burn is planned and is a controlled operation carried out under appropriate conditions to help reduce wildfire risk and support healthy forest management. Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Services said there is no cause for alarm and are asking the public to avoid the area if possible and to give crews plenty of space. The area being burned is about 130 kilometres west of Edmonton.
