Alberta government moves ahead on $384M advance skills centre at NAIT

The Alberta government is spending $384 million to build an advanced skills centre at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton.

Fifteen thousand students will study at the facility each year in 29 trades and technology programs, officials announced Monday.

It is expected to increase the number of apprentices available in Alberta by 5,500.

The funding means the project can move from the planning stage to construction.

It is expected to host its first cohort of students in 2030.
