A pedestrian was found dead on Highway 16, about three kilometers northwest of Stony Plain, on Sunday evening.

The body, near Range Road 12, was reported to Parkland RCMP around 8:30 p.m.

Police told CTV News Edmonton on Monday they needed to close part of the Yellowhead to remove the body.

The injuries are “consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle,” RCMP said.

RCMP have not released any other details about the victim as they continue to investigate.

Police are asking anyone who was driving in the area to review their dash camera footage for any signs of the pedestrian or any other related suspicious activity between 8 and 8:45 p.m.

Anyone with information or dash camera footage is asked to contact Parkland RCMP at 825-220-7267.
