Big celebrities backing Oilers again as playoff fever picks up

Edmonton may be the NHL’s northernmost market but the Oilers’ reach knows no bounds.

The NBA on TNT crew is back on the orange-and-blue bandwagon with Shaquille O’Neal showing love to his pal Zach Hyman and Charles Barkley celebrating when the Oilers eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights.

Also in the NBA, Golden State Warriors shooting guard Brandin Podziemski pulled up to a game in an Oilers jersey.

Soccer superstar Alphonso Davies is supporting his hometown team and streaming on Twitch during the games. How much does he care about the Oilers? Well, he’s in Germany where Oilers games start around 4 a.m. local time.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, raised in Edmonton, is also rooting for the Oilers. He visited the team shortly after he became prime minister and posted about them again after they beat the Knights.

And of course, Los Lobos, the band behind every Oilers fan’s favourite song right now, La Bamba.
