Published:

Police say a baby who was found dead in an Edmonton parking lot in December died before it was born.

A baby found dead in a south Edmonton parking lot last year died before it was born, according to police.

The infant boy was found dead in a shopping complex near Parsons Road and Ellerslie Road on the afternoon of Dec. 7 by officers investigating a sudden death.

Police said Friday that an autopsy found the infant had died before he was born.

The cause and manner of death have yet to be identified, but police said the death has been found to be non-criminal.

Police said no charges are expected and the investigation has been closed.
