5 men charged a year after largest cocaine bust in Edmonton history

Police have charged five people in relation to a drug bust in 2024 where police found millions of dollars of cocaine.

Five Edmonton men have been charged in what police call the largest cocaine seizure in city history.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) organized crime team arrested the men late last month in relation to a cocaine seizure by the unit last year, it said in a media release Wednesday morning.

ALERT recovered 27 kilograms of cocaine on April 30, 2024, in a drug bust at a west Edmonton home.

The five men, who have been released from police custody and are due to go to court later this month, are charged with several trafficking-related offences.

ALERT said they are part of an organized crime group in the city that also supplies drugs to Grande Prairie and Saskatchewan.

The provincial government established ALERT in 2006 to investigate serious and organized crime using 400 municipal and RCMP officers in several dedicated teams.
