4 sent to hospital after dump truck drives into oncoming vehicle: EPS

A dump truck was involved in a crash that sent four people to hospital on Monday morning.

A section of Highway 19 in southwest Edmonton remains closed after a Monday morning crash that sent four people to hospital.

Around 10:45 a.m., a dump truck was headed east when it crossed into the westbound lanes and hit an oncoming Dodge pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 19 and 181 Street, according to Edmonton police.

A Mitsubishi was also hit in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to hospital by STARS with “serious injuries,” a police spokesperson told CTV News Edmonton. The driver of the Mitsubishi was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the dump truck and the passenger of the Dodge truck were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The EPS major collision unit is investigating the crash.

As of 4 p.m., Highway 19 between 167 Street and 197 Street remained closed.
