A cyclist was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being struck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Uptown Mall in Saanich Friday.

The cyclist was crossing at an unmarked area of the highway when he was struck by a white SUV.

Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital and the driver involved remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

The collision shut down northbound lanes of the highway for about 25 minutes as crews processed the scene.

The lanes have since been reopened to traffic.
