A wind warning has been issued for southern Alberta.
Early Sunday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued the warning for the Municipal District of Pincher Creek and Twin Butte on its website, saying that strong winds with gusts over 100 km/h are expected to continue and even grow stronger throughout the day.
“Winds will strengthen today near the Alberta foothills, with the strongest winds occurring by this afternoon,” it said.
A warning was also issued for Lethbridge, with the added warning that, “damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
“Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds.”
Winds are expected to diminish Sunday night.
On its social media feed @511Alberta, the province said that Highway 22 near Twp Rd 91A north of Lundbreck has reopened after a semi rolled over due to the wind Saturday night.
