Warmer spring weather in Calgary means it’s windshield repair season

Published:

It’s the start of another busy windshield repair season, as warmer weather reveals loose gravel and pebbles littering Calgary roads.

The warmer weather means more loose gravel and pebbles are covering Calgary roads.

It’s the start of another busy windshield repair season.

Despite most of the snow and ice being gone for now, the city of Calgary is still in winter mode.

That means street sweeping won’t start until the middle of next month.

Every Calgary driver knows rock chips and cracks are all too common.

Experts say the best advice is to take care of the issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

“Manage the rock chip right away,” said windshield expert David Chester of Speedy Glass Calgary. “The quicker you get them repaired, the cleaner they are.

“They don’t have dirt or moisture in them, so you’re going to get better quality repair, it’s less likely to spread and crack and then you’re going to save yourself some money in the future.”

When it comes to potholes, city roads crews effort to fix major problem areas year-round.

Officials say Calgary has had about half the pothole complaints this year that it had last year.
