Warmer end to the week with a cooldown expected for the weekend

Overnight temperatures near freezing. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Daytime highs across southern Alberta on Thursday will be mostly warmer than average due to a predominantly westerly pattern from B.C.

There will be a mix of sun and cloud – including in the City of Calgary – with overnight lows warmer than average.

Starting Saturday a low-pressure system will alter the upper pattern and allow cooler air to flow south, suppressing temperatures on both ends of the diurnal cycle and resulting in some precipitation that will be mixed rather than straight rain.

Areas outside of urban centres will see some of their first sub-zero temperatures for the season, but Calgary should bottom out around 0 C.

There will be a slight improvement for the first half of next week with more seasonal values expected for the Thanksgiving weekend.

The normal range in Calgary right now includes 15 C for a daily high and just over 1 C for the overnight low.
