Warm Thursday before a cool and wet start to the weekend

Daytime highs across most of Alberta will be in the mid-teens on Thursday before a change in the weather pattern later in the day introduces cooler air and precipitation.

A Colorado low will help steer a series of low-pressure systems initiating in northern Canada and open things up for zonal flow along the southern borders of B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba by the weekend.

Rain will first show up in northern Alberta Thursday afternoon at the same time scattered flurries impact both sides of the Rocky Mountains, before this unsettled weather tracks south and east by Friday morning.

Calgary is likely to see some rain, and possibly some mixed precipitation or snow on Friday, although accumulations should be minimal.

The next week will offer very little consistency with single-digit daytime highs on Friday, slightly warmer highs on Saturday and Sunday, and a similar pattern to start next week.

Overnight lows will remain around the freezing mark for most of the next five-days, compared to the average low of -1 C in Calgary.
